Scacciadaivoli
Scacciadiavoli is one of the oldest winery in Montefalco. The name Scacciadiavoli leads to an episode of exorcism of the 14th century, reported by Johannes de Rupescissa in the Treaty on the Quintessence. The story is about a young woman who seems to be possessed by the devil. The exorcist gave her some red wine from the local vineyard, succeeding in chasing the devil away.
The event gave its name to the still existing village, appropriately called Scacciadiavoli.
